Water Lily Platter Painting for Empty Bowls Charity Event

I was honored to be invited to paint another pottery piece for the January 23rd Empty Bowls Silent Auction in Naples as part of a community effort to fight hunger in Collier County.

Water Lily Platter for Empty Bowls

This water lily painting was inspired by a visit to the Naples Botanical Garden a couple of years ago.

The “Empty Bowls Project” is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. The mission is to create positive and lasting change through the arts, education, and projects that build community.

The basic premise is simple:

Potters, crafters, educators, students and volunteers work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Local restaurants donate soup and bread to serve. Guests are invited on the 4th Saturday of January to a simple meal of soup and bread served at Cambier Park from 11am-2pm. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the ’empty bowls’ in the world.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida is an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity.
