A Rose That Feeds, hand painted platter for Empty Bowls Naples

“A Rose That Feeds” – Kerri Meehan’s hand painted platter for Empty Bowls Naples’ 12th Annual Fundraising Event on 1/27/18

Until recently, I hadn’t heard the term ‘food insecure’, but this means folks don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

To be able to effect change and help fight hunger in my county is an honor. For the sixth year in a row, I was honored to be asked to paint pottery for the Empty Bowls Naples fundraising efforts which will help feed those who are ‘food insecure‘ in Collier County.

In their efforts to feed the nearly 40,000 people in Collier County who are food insecure, the Empty Bowls Naples organization enlisted the creative talents of local potters, artists, educators, students and volunteers to create handcrafted and painted bowls which help to serve up a fun, social event to raise money and awareness in the fight against hunger.

Particularly with the recent impact of hurricane Irma, the needs of the hungry have not been greater.

As the needs have grown, during the 12th year of the Empty Bowls Naples event, the program will initiate a grant program which will directly help the hungry in our community.

For my part, I painted this nearly 20″ Rinny Ryan platter, plus an accompanying bowl to complete a set for the upcoming silent auction later this month.

More specifically, this Rinny Ryan-thrown, Kerri Meehan-hand-painted rose platter and bowl set will be auctioned off (Table 20) at Cambier Park, January 27th, 2018 during the 12th Annual Empty Bowls Naples event.
